GFY Thursday: Illinois Senator Dick Durbin

Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois (D. - go figure) refused to apologize for his ghastly comments 2 days ago on the Senate floor, calling the US Servicemen in Guantanamo Bay comparable to "...Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime-Pol Pot or others-that had no concern for human beings" and went on to say that "This administration should apologize to the American people for abandoning the Geneva Conventions and authorizing torture techniques that put our troops at risk and make Americans less secure."

First of all, and I'm sure this has been covered on the talk show circuit, Sen. Derka Derka Durbin needs a history lesson. The Nazis and the Soviets murdered millions of people in the concentration camps and gulags. Comparing US Servicemens' actions to that is not only way off base, it's done solely to stir up divisions in the country and deepen the divide between people for and against the war.

Like more of that is needed.

We're in it. War sucks. Let's get it done. Period.

Bitching and moaning about it now is like the child in the back seat of a car in a long car ride screaming every 3.8 minutes "ARE WE THERE YET?!" For the love of god, you told the screaming brat before you left the house it was going to be a long damn ride. What's needed is some sort of equivalent to an LCD TV and in-car DVD player to shut that little puke up and put him to sleep for the entire ride. 'Cause we sure as hell don't need him yapping in the back seat while we're getting there. Christ.

Secondly, I don't think the administration needs to apologize to the American people for "abandoning the Geneva Conventions". I'm sure there really wouldn't be much of a difference with the way US troops will be treated by Islamofascists abroad. I'm sure throats would be slit and heads cut off regardless of whether or not the air conditioning was turned on for Mohammed in his cell in Gitmo, or if poor Akbar was fooled and got real bacon instead of turkey bacon for breakfast.

Lastly, I'm sure you're quickly realizing that I give less than two turds about what the rest of the world thinks of us. Journalists who went to the University of Timbucktoo with a B.A. in, heh, Communications, and shoot the shit in the newsroom telling each other around the watercooler how much G. W. Bush sucks today, are the ones giving the public their misinformation and tailoring the news toward their own skewed agenda. Realize this, and you'll quickly see why journalists can shove it.

Well, that GFY Thursday spiraled out of control. So, GFY, Sen. Durbin. Don't make me go after you again.
